MINNEAPOLIS — A 25-year-old Marine from Maple Lake has been killed in Anbar province, Iraq, during combat operations, the Defense Department said March 1.
Sgt. Chad M. Allen was assigned to the 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.
He died Feb. 28. With his death, the total of people with strong Minnesota ties who have died in connection with the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan reached 53.
