DAYTON, Ohio — A soldier in a coma since he was shot in the head by a sniper a year ago in Iraq died Feb. 24, his family said.
Army Spc. Ethan Biggers, 22, of suburban Beavercreek, died at the Richard L. Roudebush Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Indianapolis, said his sister, Liza.
Biggers was shot during a mission southwest of Baghdad on March 5, 2006. He was a radio operator with B Company, 1-502, 101st Airborne Division, out of Fort Campbell, Ky.
Biggers’ wife, Britni, gave birth to the couple’s son in June.

FOR A FALSE AND FAILED MISSION? HIS MISSION WAS TO SERVE NEXT TO HIS BROTHERS REGUARDLESS OF THE REASON. WE ARENT POLITICIANS, WE FIGHT FOR EACHOTHER. BUT ONLY A SOLDIER WOULD KNOW THAT. DONT SLIP POLITICS OR WAR PROTESTS INTO A PRAYER OR CONDOLENCES. NO MAN KNOWS GODS INTENTIONS. BUT I DO FEEL FOR HIM AND HIS FAMILY. IT'S ONLY HUMAN TO FEEL PAIN AND MOURN. REST IN PEACE BROTHER

God Rest his soul and Bless his family from their suffering. Although I did not know him personally, his willingness to serve our country is apparent. His mission was ill-conceived by his CINC, but he carried out his orders with evident distinction and valor. Like so many other young people, his sacrifice was at too young an age, for a false and failed mission, yet he carried out the duties required of him. God Bless.
