FORT DRUM, N.Y. — A 10th Mountain Division Soldier was killed near the village of Kandalay in the Kunar province June 25 during combat operations as a part of Operation Mountain Thrust.
Pfc. Justin R. Davis, 19, was an infantryman assigned to A Company, 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division (LI).
A native of Gaithersburg, Md., Davis entered the Army in June 2005 and trained at Fort Benning, Ga., to be an infantryman.
He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 32d Infantry Regiment in December 2005 and deployed with that unit to Afghanistan in February 2006.
