Richmond Marine killed in Afghan attack

RICHMOND, Ind. — A 22-year-old Marine from eastern Indiana died in a roadside bomb attack in Afghanistan.

Lance Cpl. Layton Bradly Crass of Richmond was one of four Marines from a unit based at Twentynine Palms, Calif., who were killed in the attack on Saturday.

His death was confirmed by Brad Covert, family readiness officer for the 7th Marine Regiment.

The attack in Helmand Province in southwestern Afghanistan was the worst single attack on U.S. or coalition forces in Afghanistan this year. The Marines were in the area to help train the country’s fledgling police.

I know you saw the beautiful processional when they brought you home from above, I just hope that you could feel it.
