
HICKSVILLE, N.Y. — A 23-year-old Marine from Long Island was among those killed in Iraq this week, according to the Department of Defense.
Marine Cpl. Kevin T. Kolm, of Hicksville, died Tuesday from hostile fire in Anbar province, the department said.
Kolm was assigned to the 3rd Assault Amphibian Battalion, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force of Camp Pendleton, Calif.
A graduate of Hicksville High School, he was a third-generation Marine: his grandfather served in World War II and his father fought in Vietnam, Newsday reported Friday.
