FORT CARSON, Colo. — A Special Forces sergeant who died in Iraq was identified as a 45-year-old New Hampshire soldier.
The Defense Department identified Master Sgt. Richard Ferguson as being from Conway, N.H., who died March 31 in Somara, Iraq, when the military vehicle in which he was riding rolled over.
Ferguson was assigned to the Army’s 10th Special Forces Group based at Fort Carson.
The incident is under investigation.
Ferguson grew up in Coventry, R.I., where his father, Lee Ferguson, still lives.
“He was military all the way,” the father told Rhode Island television stations. “He did what he had to do.”
