ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Army on Wednesday released the name of a Fort Wainwright soldier who was killed in Iraq on Sunday.
The soldier was Spc. Joshua M. Pearce, 21, from Guymon, Okla. He was a fire support artilleryman who joined the Army in August 2003. He was assigned to Fort Wainwright that December, according to Army officials.
Pearce was killed and three others were wounded when an explosive blew up near their Stryker vehicle in Mosul while on patrol, said Maj. Kirk Gohlke, spokesman for the Army in Alaska.
The other three were not seriously injured.
