
CARTHAGE, Texas — A 26-year-old soldier from Carthage died in Iraq last week when an improvised explosive device struck his vehicle, the Department of Defense said July 3.
Spc. James Lee Adair was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, at Fort Riley, Kan.
He died June 29 in Baghdad.
Adair attended Carthage schools and played football there. He and Chelsea Nation married July 15. Their first child is expected in September.
Jimmy Adair of Harlingen said in a story in the July 3 online edition of the Longview News-Journal that his son had been growing up with his military service.
