This is SGT Christopher Leon. I was good friends with Katie when she died. We were in the same unit together. I was out there with her when her convoy was attack, I was at my Iraqi Police Station conducting training when I heard the radio traffic come from one of their drivers sending the SITREP to our battle space owners. That radio transmission haunts me to this day and I still feel that my squad should have dont something about it. I miss Katie very much and wish that I could see her just one more time. She was a great person, friend and Soldier. I can only imagine what her parents must feel about their daughter. They raised a wonderful daughter who put other peoples need before her own and would bend over backwards for her friends and family. God has recruiter a wonderful Angel into his kingdom. I just only hope that she is watching over her family first and foremost and over us, the men an women who sacrifice their lives everyday will deployed to a combat zone. I miss you Katie and I will see you once God needs me up there.

My condolences to the family of Katie. I am a soldier at Fort Hood, though I do not know Katie, I have had friends depart to Iraq. A few of them have not come back. I do have information of a plaque that a nurse has done through the request from another soldier. that soldier has departed the army so the nurse has no way of getting hold of katie's family members to send them that special plaque. i can be reached at gawdalmighty2004@yahoo.com

for the information of the readers, pfc soenkson was not killed while transporting office supplies. she was involved with training iraqi forces to be able to take over control of their own country, and was killed while patroling one of the most dangerous neighborhood in bagdad. dont express your ingorance by assuming women are only allowed to deliver staplers

How awful it is to take someone who is so full of pride and honor to serve their country and then cost them their life just to provide security for a convoy transporting office equipment to a high ranking officer. I hope his office equipment went with Katie. Regardless of why you were sent on that mission, you were following orders and died a hero. I am deeply saddened by the news of your death, what a terrible waste. I wish someone would send a message to these idiots that our soldiers are not expendable for their own personal gain. RIP Katie
