ALIQUIPPA, Pa. — A soldier from Pennsylvania has died in Iraq.
Spc. Shawn Michael Davies, 22, of Aliquippa, fell over and stopped breathing at a recreational facility near Baghdad on July 8, Army spokesman Maj. Greg Yesko said.
Davies was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 5th Air Defense Artillery, 1st Cavalry Division Regiment, based out of Fort Hood, Texas.
Davies, who was engaged to be married, was active in sports during high school. Medical checkups revealed no problems then or before he joined the Army, relatives said.
He graduated from Hopewell High School and was sent to Iraq earlier this year.
