HARRISON, Ark. — A soldier based at Fort Bragg has been killed in Iraq.
The military confirmed Nov. 3 that 24-year-old Army Spc. Matthew K. Reece of Harrison, Ark., died Dec. 1 from wounds sustained when his vehicle was struck by a roadside bomb in Baghdad.
Reece was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, at Fort Bragg. He joined the Army in 2005 and arrived at the 82nd Airborne the following year.
The military says Reece is survived by his wife, two children and his parents. A memorial service will be held in Iraq.

To the family of Matthew Reece ~ I have never met your son but I feel like I know him well. My new son-in-law, a member of the 82nd, was a good friend. When Ben married my daugther in August there was a place of honor for Matthew, his framed picture sitting on the table for all to see. The judge who officiated at the ceremony told those at the wedding about Matthew, and Debo and Lane and just what they meant to Ben. Please know gentlemen, you are not forgotten. Thanks for sharing the moment ~ Forever and always!

Don't think of him as gone away--

from the sorrows and the tears
