LAS VEGAS — A soldier from Las Vegas has been killed in a roadside bomb attack in Iraq, the military said.
Army Sgt. Alfred G. Paredez Jr., 32, died Nov. 20 in Baghdad from wounds he suffered when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device, according to the Defense Department.
He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 8th Calvalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, out of Fort Hood, Texas.
He was at least the 33nd service member from or with ties to Nevada killed in Iraq or Kuwait during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Paredez’s patrol was returning to the base after conducting an escort mission at the time of the attack, the military said.
