
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Marine from Jacksonville has been killed in Iraq.
Pfc. Nathan Clemons, 20, was killed Tuesday by a roadside bomb near Rutbah in Iraq’s Anbar province, according to U.S. Central Command.
He was assigned to the 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, Regimental Combat Team-2, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force, based at Camp Lejeune, N.C.
Clemons was a graduate of Terry Parker High School. His parents now live in Tennessee.
“He saw the military as a way to mature and grow up and get some responsibility,” said Mike Jackson, pastor of Clemons’ church in Jacksonville.
