Fort Campbell soldier killed in Iraq

FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. — A Fort Campbell soldier was killed by a roadside bomb while patrolling in Iraq, the Army said Friday.
Staff Sgt. Jerry M. Durbin Jr., 26, of Spring, Texas, died in Baghdad on Wednesday when the bomb exploded while he was patrolling on foot during combat operations, Fort Campbell said.
Durbin was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division.
He joined the Army in March 2001 and arrived at Fort Campbell in November 2004.
Durbin is survived by his wife, Janelle Durbin, and children, Alyssa and Austin Durbin, and a stepdaughter, Hayley Kaufman, of Clarksville, Tenn. and parents, Jerry Durbin Sr. and Teresa Durbin, of Houston.
Including Durbin, there have been 112 soldiers from Fort Campbell killed in the Iraq war.
